Description:

The purpose of Amendment 01 to BAA05-09 is to clarify the following:

The purpose of the Phase 1 goals in this program is to convey confidence to DARPA that you will be able to meet the Phase 2 goals. The purpose of the Phase 2 goals is to convince DARPA and others that your approach will be a very low risk one in going from a 10 kW demo to a 100 kW system. Therefore, be sure to structure the technology demo efforts in your program so that you clearly address the main risk items in scaling your technololgy from one phase to the next, especially power density, and power per unit bandwidth. For example, if you are proposing spectral beam combining as the approach to use in scaling to 100 kW within 50 nm, the Phase 2 goal should be to produce a 10 kW beam having a spectral bandwidth of 5 nm.
